Congratulations to Emily Rutledge ’24 on winning a $1,000 award in the National Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) Honor Society scholarship competition. A mathematics, secondary education major with a minor in accounting, Emily was one of 50 students chosen nationwide for the Jo Anne J. Trow scholarship which is based on academic merit.

For her scholarship application, Emily shared information about her academics, involvement on campus, career goals, and how ALD has impacted her. She joined the UHart ALD Honor Society chapter based on her first-year academic success and most recently served as the chapter’s secretary.

“I was very grateful to be invited to join ALD at the end of my first year because it showed me that my hard work throughout my first two semesters was being recognized,” she says. “As secretary, I was able to continue to improve my communication skills through reaching out to my peer ALD members and collaborating with the other officers. I am also currently working on getting ALD Leads Certified by participating in an online leadership and career development program.”

ALD gives students the chance to collaborate with like-minded people and helps students grow leadership skills through various programs and provides opportunities to recognize students for their academic achievement.
