Robert L. Duran (Professor Emeritus, School of Communication) and Diane Prusank (Professor, Westfield State University) published an article entitled, “The Role of Journalists in Mediating Gender Tensions:  A Case Study of Dorothy Barclay,” in Problemi Dell’Informazione. This study was a content analysis of the 1950s gender-focused writing of Dorothy Barclay, editor of the parent and child section of the New York Times (The Women’s Pages). Results revealed how women journalists illuminated tensions between old and new conceptions of gender roles.
