The upcoming closure of Norwalk-based Pepperidge Farm prompted plenty of questions about what's ahead for Connecticut and what it’s signaling about the economy. University of Hartford economics Professor Ken Goroshko spoke with Fairfield County-based WICC 600 radio about the news.

Goroshko, executive in residence in economics, finance, and insurance at UHart’s Barney School of Business, was featured on the Melissa in the Morning show to discuss Pepperidge Farm’s history in Connecticut, the cost of doing business as interest rates climb, and consolidation trends that have been making news headlines. Labor supply issues are also being seen in the state and continue to be challenging for businesses.

Pepperidge Farm, which is owned by Campbell Soup Co., will be consolidating Connecticut operations into a New Jersey location.
