Community Appreciation Day by Public Safety

February 17, 2023
Submitted By: Department of Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety is holding Community Appreciation Day for the campus on Tuesday, Feb. 21, with activities and giveaways throughout the day.

The effort will begin with officers and command employees greeting students, faculty, and staff with muffins at the University entrance, and continue with giveaways in front of Commons from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

A Public Safety officer and EMS ambassadors will set up a table at Commons with stress-reduction giveaways for students, and blood pressure readings for all. The officer will be available to answer questions about the Public Safety ambassador program as well, and the nearby community office located in the back of B Complex will be open for tours.

The University ambulance will also be parked near Commons with ambassadors and information on getting involved with campus EMS.

Patrol officers will be traveling across campus with gift card prizes and activities, including a visit with Hartford Police Department’s comfort dog and a showcase of Public Safety fleet vehicles. There will also be a student prize drawing for a chance to be taken to lunch by Chief Michael Kaselouskas, and sign-ups for ride-a-longs with an officer.

A rain/snow date is set for Feb. 22.
