With educators and students considering ways ChatGPT may affect the classroom, two University of Hartford professors shared their insights in a second article with Tech and Learning, an education news website and digital magazine.

Sheetal Sood, associate professor of special education in UHart’s College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions, along with Lisa Zawilinski, associate professor of elementary education in ENHP, recently discussed ways the artificial intelligence writing platform can be used in productive ways, adding that the technology is here to stay and should be understood.

Sood explained in the latest article that it can make certain topics more accessible to students, such as writing code. There are other ways it can also be used as an additional resource for students who are struggling with particular concepts.

Banning the platform itself, as well as discussions about it, likely won’t stop students from using it, Zawilinski told Tech & Learning. It’s best to discuss ethical ways to use such programs and give students a chance to ask questions and share ideas on it.

Sood and Zawilinski previously spoke with Tech & Learning about precautions to take with ChatGPT as it becomes more mainstream.
