Hartt Professor Featured in Chronicle of Higher Education Article

With University of Hartford students performing a Martha Graham piece in New York City this past spring semester, and another this coming fall, Professor Stephen Pier offered perspective on the iconic dancer in a recent Chronicle of Higher Education article.

Pier, artistic director and professor of dance at The Hartt School, described Graham’s training techniques and said that while they are extremely rigorous and detail-oriented, students appreciate the level of preparation they achieve through them.

The Chronicle article is focusing on a renewed celebration of Graham through the Martha Graham Dance Company, a new book, and efforts at the New York Public Library. UHart has also previously presented works of Graham in performances on campus.
