UHart Celebrates International Women in Engineering Day

International Women in Engineering Day recognizes and honors women in engineering and their outstanding contributions to the industry. The University of Hartford is proud to shine the spotlight on all they do on campus.
The College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture is home to UHart’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE) student chapter, an organization that supports students in their educational and professional endeavors. The goal of SWE is to empower women in science, engineering, and technology fields to reach their full potential in their career and become leaders in their respective industries. Members can network with professionals through dinners, conferences, and presentations.
Victoria Radcliffe ’25, an acoustical engineering and music major with a minor in mathematics, is currently president of UHart’s SWE chapter. She shared that one of her favorite parts of SWE is being part of a strong community of women that helps cultivate her skills both academically and professionally.
“As women studying engineering, we have the potential to impact the future of our society in huge ways. It is so important that clubs like SWE continue to empower women and be catalysts for change so that each of us, and every generation of women engineers to come, knows they are capable of creating a better future,” she explained.
Throughout the semester, SWE hosts networking dinners and community-building events such as paint and crafting nights. These events are open to the campus community and offer a great way for UHart students to learn more about the organization and connect with other students. SWE is always accepting new members and welcomes any interested students to contact Victoria at radcliffe@hartford.edu.
