Alex Coury Named Associate VP for Corporate Partnerships and Career Experiences

alex.coury.headshot.2022_rt.jpgAlex Coury ’08, M’10 has been named to the newly created position of associate vice president for corporate partnerships and career experiences.

In her new role, among other responsibilities, Coury will continue to fundraise, oversee the Center for Career and Professional Development, work on corporate partnerships and scholarship programs, and help the Alumni Engagement team recruit former students for career programming.

Coury, who has both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the Barney School of Business, was an accomplished student-athlete (softball) and has taught for eight years in the University Interdisciplinary Studies program.

As a member of the development team, she has been the lead fundraiser for the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions; Hillyer College; and the Barney School. Coury has overseen the creation and expansion of the FIRM Executive Leader of the Year event, which has raised over $500,000 annually towards scholarship and career experiences. Most recently, she added corporate development to her portfolio, overseeing UHart’s partnerships with major businesses including Hartford Steam Boiler, Hartford Healthcare, Stanley Black & Decker, and CVS Health.

While working at The Women’s Advancement Initiative (advancing to associate director), Coury designed LEAD to be a four-year program dedicated to educating women on professional development and leadership. She began her professional career working in multiple areas in the Department of Athletics (advancing to assistant AD), including compliance, academics, student development, and community engagement.

Coury is a 2017 graduate of the HERS Leadership Institute for higher education female professionals and served from 2007 to 2009 as a national student representative to the NCAA.
