A Fond Farewell to Sara Cerruto

August 15, 2023
Submitted By: Amy Jaffe Barzach

Sara Cerruto will be leaving the University of Hartford on Aug. 25, to pursue her next professional adventure. She joined The Women’s Advancement Initiative in December 2018 as LEAD Program Director and continued in this role when she was promoted to Assistant Director for WAI. She will be missed.

Under Sara’s leadership, the LEAD program thrived serving 100+ students. Each year, Sara facilitated 40 LEAD sessions that were conducted by a diverse team of staff, professional facilitators, and community leaders. During these sessions, students developed leadership and professional development skills, received resilience and opportunity coaching, networked with community professionals, engaged in community service projects, and acquired the tools needed to navigate the journey into and through college. Sara uniquely combines solid program design, development, and delivery skills with exemplary management skills, strong emotional intelligence, and an empowering delivery style.

Prior to joining The Women’s Advancement Initiative, Sara worked at the Office of Admission at the University of Hartford where she focused on cultivating relationships with transfer students and building the non-traditional student population. During her tenure at the University of Hartford, Sara earned her Master of Science degree in Business Management through the Barney School of Business. Sara also taught as an adjunct instructor for three years in the University Interdisciplinary Studies program and is a graduate of the 2022 QUEST Leadership Greater Hartford program. Sara has been an active member of the University community for seven years.

Sara has accepted a role at Henkel, a multinational corporation, and will be moving to Brooklyn, NY. In her new role, she will be working as a recruitment partner and will be helping to spearhead the first North American talent acquisition and leadership department. Henkel is a German chemical and consumer goods company headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany. Its portfolio of well-known consumer and industrial brands includes Dial soaps, Schwarzkopf hair care, Persil, and Snuggle fabric softeners.

We will miss Sara and her enthusiastic energy but are thrilled for her next adventure. Please join her Women's Advancement colleagues, our Board of Directors, community facilitators, and LEAD students in wishing her the absolute best as she moves onto this new chapter.
