Hartt's Ode to Joy Festival, Sept. 14 – 17

The Hartt School presents Ode to Joy, an annual festival that runs from Sept. 14 – 17. The free festival includes four chamber music concerts with more than 50 performers from all generations

The Lions Gate Trio, Hartt’s trio-in-residence, has invited Hartt faculty and guest artists to join them in presenting beloved chamber music by Mozart and Mendelssohn — both renowned masterpieces and forgotten gems. Guest artists include Alan Murchie and the choir of St James Church, Gary Capozziello, Lily Holgate, Tomoko Fujita, and members of the Manhattan and Dali Quartets. Before and after the concerts, the audience also will hear performances by Hartt’s own wunderkinder: wonderful young students from the The Hartt School Community Division. 

This musical event can be considered a celebration of the most extraordinary child geniuses of the past and of the young music-makers in our midst today. Concert details are as follows:

Mendelssohn C Minor Trio (Lions Gate Trio) 

The Lions Gate Trio is comprised of Katie Lansdale, violin, Darrett Adkins, cello, and Florence Millet, piano. The Lions Gate Trio is an internationally acclaimed ensemble in both the U.S. and Europe. The Trio works with instrumental students during the fall and spring semesters and performs at Hartt various times throughout the year.
