Political Science Professor Moderates Debate

Associate Professor Bilal Sekou moderated a debate involving the three most prominent Democratic candidates in the Hartford mayoral race in anticipation of the upcoming primary.  

Sekou, who teaches at the University of Hartford’s Hillyer College, is a well-respected expert in Connecticut politics whose research includes race and politics, urban politics, campaigns, elections, and voting behavior. Last fall, he also joined round-table discussions about the secretary of the state race with CT Public as part of the organization’s political debate series. 

The Hartford mayoral forum was held at The Lyceum, with Sekou asking questions about the job market, education, gun violence, and the economy. The primary is set for Sept. 12.
