2024 CT General Assembly Legislative Internship Program
It’s time to recruit for the CGA Legislative Internship Program! In 2024, we will offer more instruction to support interns’ understanding of the legislative process. We will dig into the state budget with a series of seminars led by the Governor’s budget staff, the Appropriations Committee staff, and caucus budget staff. In addition, students will have the opportunity to role-play budget negotiations in the new budget simulation game. My goal is to offer students multiple viewpoints of the legislative process and guided experiential learning opportunities.
Below is information regarding the program administration:

Application Process Updates
All students must meet with their campus liaison prior to submitting their application. I will only consider applications from students for whom we receive the liaison recommendation form. When a student submits their application, they receive a confirmation email with application documents attached (resume, cover letter, and two (2) recommendation letters). You will also now receive a similar email with the student’s application information and supporting documents. This process was executed so that you have all application materials to review prior to sending your recommendation form.
Faculty/Employer Letters of Recommendation
The student must provide two letters of recommendation from faculty or employers other than you. You will complete the campus liaison recommendation form (as referred to above). There are links on the application where students should upload the faculty or employer letters. This is so that you, as the liaison can see the letters along with other application documents. If recommenders do not want to give a letter to the student to upload, recommenders can email their letters directly to me. The recommender should put the following in the subject line of their recommendation email: LOR: Student name.
Criminal History Form
Students are asked to complete a criminal history form if they are accepted to the program. Disclosure of criminal history does not necessarily disqualify students from participation in the program, so please have qualified students apply even if they have a criminal history.
