Storm Advisory

UHart will remain closed on Tuesday, Feb. 24. There will be no in-person classes held on Tuesday. Please note that when a campus closing prevents an in-person class from meeting at its scheduled time, faculty may opt to conduct classes or provide assignments online. Students should check Blackboard and their email regularly on such days to learn of any alternate arrangements. Online and remote courses are not affected by campus closings and meet as scheduled.

Parking lot snow removal is complete. Please return all vehicles to assigned lots between now and 11 p.m. Students who are arriving back on campus can now proceed directly to their assigned lot. See parking relocation instructions for residential students.

Welcome to Matt Besterman

besterman_matt_640x640-1.jpgMatt Besterman has joined the campus community as director of public and media relations.

Matt brings more than 25 years of experience to UHart in a range of roles in broadcast news and PR/media relations. Most recently, Matt served as PR manager for LEGOLAND New York Resort, where he was part of a team that helped gain community support and build excitement for the theme park’s opening. He secured more than 3,000 media placements across traditional print and television as well as digital and social channels—despite having to wade through the implications of the pandemic, which delayed the opening by a year.

As an executive producer for Spectrum News NY1 for 15 years, Matt oversaw newsgathering, writing, and reporting for multiple daily newscasts; directed coverage of breaking news, including eight hours of live wall-to-wall coverage during Hurricane Sandy; and conceived and wrote the NY1 Style Guide.

Please join us in welcoming Matt to UHart!
