American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) UHart Student Chapter participated in the ASCE Northeast Student Symposium for the first time since around 2011, and the Surveying Team earned 2nd place in the regional competition!
This dedicated team of four civil engineering students—Amelia Jensen, Liam Schuessler, John Kelly, and Lily Desautels—demonstrated engineering excellence, leadership, communication, and tireless teamwork, competing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with energy and commitment.
What truly sets this team apart is their commitment to growth. They were the only team who requested to review their score sheet with the judges, seeking feedback for future improvement. That moment captured their mindset: curious, humble, and determined to make a lasting impact.
While this marks the end of this year’s student competitions, it more importantly signifies a new beginning for the ASCE UHart student chapter. After more than a decade of silence, chapter students are returning with renewed energy and a commitment to consistent participation in future symposiums.
Please join me in celebrating their dedication and success! They’ve not only placed, but paved the way forward.
