Last month, Tau Sigma Delta, the National Architecture Honor Society held their annual meeting/luncheon to initiate new members for annual year 2024–25. The society recognizes intellectual achievement, effort and initiative as well as leadership and character within its membership. The University of Hartford Gamma Nu chapter of Tau Sigma Delta is made up of students who have distinguished themselves in their architectural education, and academically reflects the top 20% of the student body with a 3.6 or better. Dr. Theodore Sawruk, faculty advisor and member, presided over the meeting.
The silver medal is awarded each year by the Gamma Nu chapter of the University of Hartford) to an outstanding professional with a record of distinction in design in the field of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or the Allied Arts. This year, the Gamma Nu chapter awarded Sue Wyeth, AIA, NOMA, Senior Director of Centerbrook Architects and Planners with an award of the Silver Medal for Design. Ms. Wyeth was recognized for her outstanding design work, as well as her years of service to the architecture profession and the academy. Ms. Wyeth is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. She has been an architect at Centerbrook for more than 40 years, and a senior director for the last ten years. She is a recipient of dozens of national and regional awards and has also been published extensively. Most recently, she was the 2024 president of the CT AIA. For these and so many other achievements, Gamma Nu would like to thank you and recognize your many contributions to the profession and our program.
Following the silver medal award, graduating students Kayleigh Luke, MArch ’25 and Timothy Wang, MArch ‘25 competed for the Bronze Medal in Design. The bronze medal is awarded by the individual chapters of Tau Sigma Delta to a graduating undergraduate or graduate student who has distinguished themselves in design. By a unanimous vote of the members present, Kayleigh Luke was awarded the Bronze Medal in Design.
