Celebration of Life for HCD's Susan Powell on Aug. 16

Susan Hall Powell, a bassist with over 40 years of experience in teaching and performing who was a longtime member of The Hartt School Community Division faculty, passed away peacefully on July 11.

Her family has shared details about a celebration of life event on Aug. 16, held on the University of Hartford's campus. Below is more information:

You are warmly invited to join us in a celebration of the life of Susan Hall Powell. The gathering will take place on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Wilde Auditorium on the University of Hartford campus. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be served.

For her many bass students, past and present, we especially invite you to bring your instrument. In Susan’s memory, please join fellow students and colleagues—young and old—for a special musical tribute.

Whether or not you’re able to attend, you are invited to share your memories and reflections online here.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Most of all, we hope you’ll join us on Aug.16 to visit and remember Susan with friends, students, and colleagues.

RSVP is appreciated but not required:
Please contact Keith at woodnartsman@gmail.com.

Special Request:
If you are currently teaching or studying to become a bass teacher, the family kindly asks that you reach out to Keith at the above email, regardless of your availability on Aug. 16.
