Recently, The Hartt School and The Hartt School Theatre Division celebrated their 25th anniversary of the inaugural theatre class.
The Classes of 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 visited the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center (HPAC) for a celebration of their experiences at Hartt. Hosted by alumni Wil Fisher '00, Matthew F. Lewandowski II '00, Bob Martin '00, and Dana Mierlak '01, the August event drew dozens of guests from all over the country.
The event tickets included a gift to the Malcolm Morrison Scholarship Fund. Morrison’s widow, Johanna Morrison spoke at the event of his legacy and impact of the scholarship funds. Professor Morrison was dean from 1998 to 2008 and oversaw the expansion of Hartt from a distinguished music conservatory to a comprehensive performing arts conservatory including dance and theatre divisions. President Ward was also present to speak about the impact of The Hartt School on the entire community.
Now in its 25th year, Hartt’s Theatre Division has an exciting lineup of shows, beginning with Thorton Wilder’s The Skin of Our Teeth, and the groundbreaking rock musical, Rent. Additional fall performances include Everybody and Bright Star. In the spring, the Theatre Division will present Urinetown, The Laramie Project, Macbeth, and the Cole Porter classic, Kiss Me, Kate.
