Hartt Faculty Member Birce Tanriguden just had her paper entitled, “A Cognitive Load Theory-Based Teaching Method to Western Standard Notation” accepted for publication in the Journal of General Music Education, a peer-reviewed journal.
This is work is an ongoing area of interest for Dr. Tanriguden and is an important addition to her research agenda for improving instruction in musical notational reading for elementary aged children by removing unnecessary mental load factors in pedagogically logical sequences to allow for focused learning.
