It’s been a busy month for UHart in the news! From a remarkable story of recovery to some life lessons from a Broadway actor, the University has been featured across the country. Here are the highlights:
“Finding Your Purpose” as a Performer
For some students at The Hartt School, “the room where it happens” was Roberts Theater at HPAC. That’s where Bryan Terrell Clark—who’s played George Washington in Hamilton among other roles on stage, film, and television—shared some of his wisdom and experience in a masterclass. News 8 was there, and their story also ran on television stations as far away as Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, and Arkansas. Closer to home, here's CT Insider's report.
That evening, Clark took the stage at Millard Auditorium to speak about “Finding Your Purpose” as part of the Helen Rogow Distinguished Visiting Lecturer Series. Read more about his inspiring talk.
A Remarkable Recovery
Just weeks before the start of her sophomore year, biochemistry major Jacqueline Tran ’28 suffered a medical emergency—but she wasn’t about to let that stop her. She shared her remarkable story of recovery with FOX61.
Scholars of Excellence
FOX61’s website also featured the story of UHart’s inaugural cohort of Scholars of Excellence, honored at a special breakfast in Auerbach Hall.
Top Talent
Circling back to the stage: Broadway World had two stories featuring UHart in recent weeks—starting with this article about Broadway producer Alexander Robertson ’20, one of 12 alumni honored with Anchor Awards last month.
And this feature on Hartford Stage’s production of A Christmas Carol prominently mentions the Hartt students who will appear in the play this year, thanks to a longstanding partnership with the University.
