UHart ASHRAE Chapter Tours Thomas Hooker Brewery to Explore HVACR Systems

photo

The UHart student chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) stepped out of the classroom and into the real world during an engaging technical tour of Thomas Hooker Brewery in Hartford. The visit gave engineering students an inside look at the specialized mechanical systems that keep a modern brewery operating safely, efficiently, and consistently.

Led by brewery staff and accompanied by faculty advisors, students explored how the facility uses refrigeration, ventilation, and process-specific temperature controls at every stage of beer production—from grain handling and fermentation to packaging and cold storage. The tour highlighted the critical role HVACR systems play in maintaining product quality and meeting strict environmental and safety requirements.

UHart students extend their gratitude to Thomas Hooker Brewery for a detailed and engaging educational visit.
