Milliken made a lasting impact at the University of Hartford—most notably as a member of the Board of Regents (1988–94) and through his support of The Hartt School. Colleagues knew him not only for his expertise, but also for his thoughtful approach and steady presence.

The family will be holding private services and remembrances.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Hartt School.
