CTEI is pleased to invite eligible UHart faculty to apply for the Summer Institute (SI): Equity-Focused Teaching through Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The SI supports instructors interested in making significant curricular and/or pedagogical shifts to reduce barriers to learning and strengthen inclusive excellence and belonging for all students.
Why participate? Because you will get to:
- Explore equity-focused teaching through a Universal Design for Learning lens
- Develop and revise course materials to better meet the needs of our diverse learners
- Collaborate in a cross-disciplinary community of practice to share ideas, resources, and feedback
- Receive a $1500 stipend for full participation and submission of required, teaching artifacts
Structure & Key Dates
- Two-day institute workshops: May 19–20, 2025 (following Commencement)
- Day 1 features a half-day workshop with Samantha Chang from the University of Toronto
- Day 2 features a session by Kathleen Neal, Director of the Office Institutional Effectiveness,
- One-hour virtual check-in: June or July (date TBD)
- One additional one-hour check-in for all participants: during the 2026–2027 academic year
- Applications due: May 11, 2026 (see application for exact date)
Who should apply? (Eligibility)
- Full-time faculty/teaching staff who have completed at least one year at the institution and have not participated previously
- Part-time faculty who have taught at least 5 courses, are scheduled to teach in AY 2026–27, and have not participated previously
