Senior nursing student Claudia Filipkowska Cruz has received the Mary Lou Welch Diversity in Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship honors a student from a diverse background who is pursuing an undergraduate degree and an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International. As a half-Polish, half-Hispanic woman, Claudia believes she can help bridge communication gaps between the healthcare staff and ESL patients.
Claudia received this scholarship at the Sigma's Annual Tea, hosted by the University of St. Joseph.
