Barney Celebrates Successful Inaugural Project Management Certificate Cohort

The Barney School of Business recently celebrated the successful completion of the inaugural cohort of its new Project Management Certificate Program, bringing together professionals from a variety of industries to strengthen their leadership skills and gain practical project management experience.

Designed for working professionals, the certificate program provides a comprehensive introduction to both predictive and agile project management methodologies while emphasizing real-world application through interactive discussions, simulations, and hands-on learning.

Participants praised the program's engaging format and the expertise of its instructors.

"The interactive portions of the class help make the instruction more relatable."

Many students appreciated the program's balance of foundational knowledge and practical experience.

"This course provided an excellent overview of project management."

Others highlighted the immediate value they could bring back to their workplaces.

"The professors are kind; they answer our questions and are passionate about project management. I feel like I have some tidbits I can bring back to my job."

A standout feature of the program was its emphasis on experiential learning. Through project simulations, participants were able to apply concepts in a low-risk environment that encouraged learning through practice.

"The simulations really help to create a tangible aspect to the areas of the course that I might not have lots of experience in. I enjoy being able to 'fail' at it and have the simulations be more about learning rather than perfection. I enjoy the class discussions, and the real-world examples the professors are able to pull into the modules."

Students also praised the quality of instruction throughout the program.

"Instructors are very knowledgeable, prepared, and thorough. Expectations are clearly outlined and communicated. Lectures (theory) are balanced with project simulation (practical). They provide illustrative examples and engage all students in discussion. I can't say enough positive things about this class. 10/10."

The curriculum introduced participants to key project management concepts that can be applied across industries, helping professionals build skills that support organizational success.

"The course provided a good general introduction to agile and predictive project plan methodologies."

The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the inaugural cohort reflects the program's commitment to combining academic expertise with practical, career-focused learning. As organizations continue to seek professionals who can effectively lead projects, the Project Management Certificate Program equips participants with the tools, confidence, and experience to make an immediate impact in their organizations.

With a successful first cohort complete, the Barney School of Business looks forward to welcoming future participants and continuing to provide high-quality professional education that helps individuals advance their careers and meet the evolving needs of today's workforce.
