HAS faculty Ellen Carey has a new exhibition at the William Benton Museum of Art, at the University of Connecticut campus in Storrs. The exhibition, Colors in the Dark: Ellen Carey runs from Sept.1 through Dec. 20.
Carey’s latest exhibition is one of the largest presentation of her work, and follows her recent solo exhibitions at Fox Talbot Museum in England, the New Britain Museum of American Art, among others. It features a never-seen-before Polaroid 20x24 triptych in RGB.
The exhibition also has a number of fitting connections to the University of Hartford. The show is curated by Nancy Stula, PhD, Executive Director, a UHart alumna, and the digital catalogue & postcard was designed by HAS faculty member John Nordyke.
With a career spanning over four decades, Carey is known for her pioneering work in abstract and experimental photography. She is an university educator, independent scholar, guest curator, experimental photographer and lens-based artist. The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) named Carey one of the top 100 women photographers worldwide, one of 14 Americans. Her unique and experimental pictures have been seen in over 70 solo plus hundreds of group exhibits, reproduced in books, brochures and other printed matter.
