photo
Stories of the Underworld were widely told, as reflected on this Greek vase.

What lies beyond the realm of the living? For centuries, cultures across the globe have crafted powerful stories to explore the deepest mysteries of life, death, and what follows. Join master storyteller Tom Lee for a captivating three-part series exploring the underworld through the eyes of some of history’s most memorable characters, including:

  • Odysseus, navigating the shadows of the Greek underworld
  • Dante’s Pilgrim, trekking through the classic circles of the Inferno
  • St. Brendan, the Irish monk sailing toward mystical otherworldly horizons
  • Inanna, the Mesopotamian goddess descended into the realm of the dead

Blending mythic tradition with rich historical context, Tom will bring their legendary journeys to life.

Tom Lee has told stories internationally for thirty-five years. He has performed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Yale Center for British Art, The Morgan Library, The Metropolitan Opera Guild, and as artist-in-residence at the International Storytelling Center.
