Four students received Emeriti Scholarships at the Emeriti Association’s plenary meeting on Oct. 20. Approximately 35 members and guests heard the students talk about their considerable achievements and time at the University. As usual, the students impressed us with their poise, commitment, and the number and variety of their experiences.

Payton Twombley, a senior in Health Sciences, was awarded the Walter Harrison Emeriti Scholarship; Madison Tierney, a senior Biochemistry major in the Hillyer College of Arts and Science, received the Humphrey Tonkin Emeriti Scholarship; Marina Jung, a junior majoring in Psychology and English, and Hunter Soma, a senior majoring in Biology, shared the Emeriti Scholarship. Both are in the Hillyer College of Arts and Sciences.

An announcement for applications for the 2027–28 academic year will appear in UNotes and on the Emeriti website in February with an application deadline of mid-March. The scholarships are based on scholarly achievement and community service.  Applications are open to all undergraduates with a GPA of 3.5 or greater entering their junior or senior year as full-time students in the Fall 2027 semester.

The Emeriti Association of the University of Hartford comprises retired faculty who have been granted emeritus status by the Board of Regents and University administrators who continue to contribute to the University's vibrancy and growth.
