John Mehm joined the faculty of the Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology in 1994, after several years as a practicum supervisor. He has held several administrative roles, including the Director of Clinical Training for the PsyD program from 2008-22. Upon retiring from the University, he maintains involvement with the PsyD program as Senior Affiliate Faculty. Mehm's professional interests include the community integration of persons with serious mental illness; legal issues in mental health; and training in professional psychology. He served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Psychological Association in several roles, including President (2007-10) and APA Council Representative (2015-20).
He earned his AB with honors in psychology and mathematics from Indiana University in 1979, and he completed his PhD in clinical psychology at The University of Iowa in 1985. He was a predoctoral intern at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, Conn., and is a licensed psychologist in Connecticut.
