First-year Orientations began this past weekend. The two-day events give members of the incoming class a chance to spend a night on campus, get a feel for what residential life is like, and learn some tips and tricks for how to be academically successful their first year.
Incoming students and their families participated in group activities and received some friendly guidance from UHart’s team of student orientation advisers, the Red Caps. Students got to meet new friends, play lawn games, learn about clubs and activities, review their first year class schedule, prepare for move-in, and much more.
UHart President Lawrence P. Ward spoke to the attendees about the process of adjustment to the college experience—which he characterized as a “new beginning” as they transition into young adulthood.
As they learn to make decisions on their own, build resilience, and take responsibility for their own choices, Ward reminded the incoming class and their families of all the support they’ll receive at UHart—from academics to health and wellness to community and belonging.
Two more Orientations are planned in June, as well as one in August. For more information, click below.
