Communication major Hannah Shershow ’23 says her time at Hillyer College was academically challenging, fun, and the best way to transition from high school into college. When Hannah started at UHart, she was not sure of her academic goals and says with the help of her Hillyer professors, she soon found what she enjoyed and was able to fully delve into her academic journey.

Hannah says Hillyer faculty served as her advisors and continued to help after she successfully transitioned into the College of Arts and Sciences. She credits Associate Professor of Communication Rebecca Townsend, Professor of History Robert Churchill, and Academic Strategies Instructor Gail Syring for much of her success throughout her college career and says, "I would not have gotten through these last four years without their support inside and outside the classroom."

One of Hannah’s recent successes was serving as the director of the student-run public relations agency Crested Communications, which produces strategic marketing plans for real clients. In this role, she oversaw the creation of a social media campaign for CVS pharmacy.

Hannah is currently working for the marketing department at Hillyer College where she writes stories about the achievements of Hillyer students and faculty. "I've gained a lot of knowledge from my work on the marketing team, “she says. “My experience includes conducting interviews and writing for various marketing projects."

Hannah has also immersed herself in a few extracurricular activities at UHart. She serves as vice president of the Lambda Pi Eta national honors society for communication students. Hannah is also the new member recruiter for Chabad Chevra, one of UHart's Jewish groups. Lastly, she serves as an ambassador for the College of Arts and Sciences where she shares her UHart experiences with prospective students and parents.

When asked what advice she would give to first-year students Hannah says, “Enjoy college. It is so tempting to strive for perfection, but when doing that it’s easy to lose out on the fun experiences.”

After she graduates in May, Hannah plans to acquire a mediation certificate that will help in her pursuit of a career in Human Resources.

I've gained a lot of knowledge from my work on the marketing team. My experience includes conducting interviews and writing for various marketing projects.
