State of Connecticut Paid Leave Program

December 03, 2021
Submitted By: HRD

On Dec. 1, Governor Lamont announced the new state paid leave program for employees. The Connecticut Paid Leave program (CTPFML) provides Connecticut’s workforce with income replacement benefits for qualifying life events including, but not limited to, pregnancy, seeking treatment for serious health conditions for themselves or their families, and/or serving as a caretaker for a family member.

  • As of Dec. 1, employees can apply for benefits through the State of CT.  Employees should apply for benefits as soon as reasonably possible, but not more than 30 days in advance of an absence.
  • Beginning Jan. 1, 2022, the State of CT will start the review, approval, and payment process for benefits.

The University of Hartford is working diligently to integrate our current leave benefit programs with the state paid leave program. HRD will be offering Town Hall meetings in December and January for employees to learn more about the state program and integration of University benefits.

As this is a brand new program for all employees and employers in the state, we ask for your patience as we coordinate these intricate benefit plans.
