On Tuesday, April 19, from noon to 4 p.m., the Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with the Residence Hall Association, Residential Life, and the Connecticut State Police (CSP), will be hosting a Distracted Driving Awareness event on the lawn outside of GSU.
The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to the UHart community regarding the dangers of distracted driving. During this event, 3000 small orange marker flags will be placed in the ground to represent the national average of motorist fatalities due to distracted driving a year.
Residential Life and Public Safety will conduct interactive tabling with informational brochures regarding the three types of distracted driving and tips on how to avoid them. The CSP will be present with the Seatbelt and roll-over simulators. CSP will also be available to offer firsthand knowledge and experience regarding Connecticut’s distracted driving problem.
