During this season of giving, the Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion brought light to the Holiday Giving Program, a UHart tradition. This year, there were four ways to give! While OSEI organized all the collections, Howie's Holiday Toy Drive for the Boys and Girls Club had an extra boost by the Office of Residential Life in collaboration with Public Safety and Staff Council. Additionally, Aramark collected food pantry items for The Nosh during the faculty/staff holiday party.

After sorting collection site bins and virtual donations, OSEI tallied more than 900 food and hygiene items for The Nosh, $214.30 in gift cards donated to The Village, around 150 clothing items collected for South Park Inn, and 265 toys and gift cards donated through Howie’s Holiday Toy Drive for the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford.

The Office of Residential Life and Public Safety delivered all toy and gift card donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford in the University’s ambulance. More than 1,000 children had the UHart community to thank when they received new toys and enjoyed a brighter holiday season.

Donations collected for South Park Inn are scheduled to be delivered this week by the Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion. All non-perishable items collected for The Nosh restocked shelves and can be picked up by members of the UHart community in GSU 314 during GSU business hours.

Without your support, the Holiday Giving Program tradition would not be able to continue—thank you to all UHart community members for your generous donations. We look forward to sharing new ways to continue to support our local communities throughout the year.
