New Pilot Program Increases Inclusivity

The Disabilities Employee Affinity Network group is excited to share with the campus community that a pilot project is now underway to increase wayfinding signage for elevator use. In Hillyer Hall, there is no signage leading one to an elevator, from any of the multiple handicap entrances. This issue is addressed through a pilot project now underway in which new signage was installed in Hillyer Hall. An example picture of such signage is included in this UNote.

Over the coming weeks, additional signage will be posted, in Hillyer Hall, with the goal of increasing wayfinding signage posted in all buildings on campus.

A collaboration of Facilities, Marketing & Communication, who in working along with UHart employees in the Disabilities Employee Affinity Network, made this pilot project a reality.

The plan is to continue working in other academic buildings to add such signage and then expand to other areas on campus over the long term.
