Talk a Walk Around Campus & Lower Your Stress

With temperatures warming up, have you taken a walk around campus? Did you know that spending some time outdoors can lower blood pressure and help with stress?

There are plenty of spring-flowering trees in bloom this week around campus.  Head outside and enjoy some of what mother nature has to offer!  You will find trees in bloom outside nearly every building on campus.

What are those tall/narrow white flowering trees? Those are pear trees. The trees do not produce any fruit but do provide quite a fragrance from the flower blossom.

What of those pink trees? There are a few different varieties of spring blooming trees with pink flowers. Outside the Auerbach Computer & Administration building there are pink flowering cherry trees, including weeping variety, and some pink plum trees. Closer to Dana there are two different varieties of magnolia trees in bloom. Cherry and magnolia trees are scattered across campus- can you count them all?

In the coming days the red bud trees (a small purple flower) in front of GSU will be on full display.

Some folks have also spotted the white blooming weeping cherry tree on the north-facing side of Hillyer Hall.
