Amici Network Inaugural Event Focuses on Baseball and the Italian American Experience

The Italian American Amici affinity network invites you to attend our inaugural event on Tuesday, October 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the Greenberg Center.

October is Italian American Heritage and Culture Month, first proclaimed by President H.W. Bush and Congress in 1989; of course, October is also when Major League Baseball's playoffs and the World Series occur. We're delighted to share that President Emeritus Walter Harrison, baseball fan and baseball scholar, will present "'Where Have You Gone Joe DiMaggio?' Baseball and the Italian American Experience."

As Basil M. Russo, president of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, wrote in 2020: "Ultimately, baseball—perhaps more than ay other American cultural institution—helped Italian immigrants and their children overcome bias, prejudice, and hardship to become fully assimilated in their new homeland."

We hope you'll join us to learn about celebrate Italian American history and culture. Please use the link below to register.
