Hartt Dance Faculty Performs in New York City

Associate Professor of Dance Nina Watt has been invited by the Limón Dance Company’s Artistic Director, Dante Puleio, to participate in the company’s upcoming season at the Joyce Theatre in New York City, Oct. 14–19.

Professor Watt will dance a few moments in a multi-generational group adaptation of Limón’s stunning solo, Chaconne, to J. S. Bach’s ‘Chaconne’ from the Partita no. 2 in D minor. She had staged a small group version of the piece for the Fall 2023 Hartt Dances. Two of those Hartt Dance alumnae, Kristina Shaw '24 and Ashton Rivera '24, will also be participating.

The Limón Dance Company launches its 80th anniversary season with a bold, intergenerational program that honors eight decades of revolutionary modern dance by its founder, José Limón, while amplifying the voices of today.

The program opens with a multi-generational restaging of Limón's 1942 solo Chaconne—a poignant meditation on form, dignity, and the elevation of the male figure, featuring live music.
