University of Hartford biomedical engineering and mathematics double major Jasmin Enriquez ’27 earned first place in the Undergraduate Collegiate Rapid Fire Competition at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Conference, held last week in New Orleans, the world’s largest gathering for women in engineering and technology.
Jasmin was one of just ten national finalists selected to present at the competition, where she showcased her research conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Colleen E. Krause. Her project stood out among submissions from top universities across the country, earning her the top honor.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Dean Hisham Alnajjar.
The SWE Conference brings together more than 16,000 engineers, researchers, and students each year, celebrating women’s contributions and leadership in STEM.
For Dr. Krause, this recognition marks the third time her research lab has earned national attention. She was featured on the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) website for her work on Breast Cancer Detection with University of Hartford student co-authors. She additionally was highlighted in Women’s Health In Focus at NIH, a quarterly publication of the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health.
