As the architecture department chair prepares to retire this spring, he says he’ll miss the students most. 

After more than three decades at the University of Hartford, Jim Fuller is retiring this spring, leaving behind a legacy defined by growth, innovation, and student impact. From his early days helping build the program from the ground up to leading major curriculum expansions and new graduate pathways, Fuller has remained deeply committed to creating opportunities for students to thrive.

A passionate educator and mentor, he reflects on a career shaped by curiosity, humility, and collaboration—one that has influenced generations of aspiring architects and strengthened the UHart community. As he looks ahead to retirement, Fuller remains grateful for the journey and hopeful for the program’s continued success.
