Celebrating the Recipients

Read about recipients from previous Scholarship Competitions.

At UHart, we are committed to making your education affordable and attainable.

Each year, accepted students with high academic success are invited to our prestigious Scholarship Competition. These undergraduate University scholarships reach up to full tuition and are renewable for four years when the recipient maintains a 3.25 cumulative GPA. The scholarships empower students from varied backgrounds and interests to make the most of their UHart experience.

Application process

To be considered for our annual scholarship competition, students should apply to UHart and submit all supplemental materials by the Nov. 15 early action deadline.

Qualifying candidates*, who have high academic success, and have been accepted into the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions, College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture, and the Barney School of Business, will be notified of their invitation to the prestigious competition in December via email.

*Qualified students admitted to The Hartt School, Hartford Art School, and Hillyer College will be given the opportunity to qualify for additional scholarships through separate programs offered by each school.  Details will be forthcoming to those eligible.

About the competition

The competition includes three components:

  1. Attend the in-person event on the University of Hartford campus.
  2. Participate in an in-person interview with one of our expert faculty members or University leadership at our in-person event.
  3. Complete the competition essay virtually. Additional information regarding the essay requirement will be shared with registered participants prior to the event.

All three components must be completed to be considered for the scholarship.

All scholarship competition participants will receive an additional $1,000 toward their existing academic award (up to but not exceeding full tuition). Award winners will be notified in early April.
