Minor in French

The minor in French gives you a rich foundation in grammar, pronunciation and culture, and is a strong complement to any area of study.

About the Minor

The curriculum is based on the development of valuable speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills that enable you to effectively communicate in social and professional settings.

Minor Requirements

A total of 18 credits is required for the French minor.

Electives

You must earn a total of 15 credits from a list of French courses. Examples include:

  • Elementary French II  
  • Intermediate French I  
  • Intermediate French II  
  • Introduction to French Culture  
  • Studies in French Culture

Additional Requirements

The minor requires the completion of one of the following 3 credit courses:

  • Integrative Capstone: Comparative Literature and Critical Theories  
  • Special Topics in Modern Languages and Cultures
