The Office of Academic Technology & Digital Innovation assists faculty in using technology and new teaching methods in their established curriculum.

Whatever the application or technology, our seminars emphasize teaching first and are designed to engage faculty from all disciplines and all technological skill levels.

Faculty Lab

Located in room L203A of Harrison Libraries, the lab includes for use and/or borrow:

  • Windows PC and Macintosh computers
  • Scanners (for text, images, and slides)
  • Video editing stations

Meet the Staff

The staff provides faculty with the knowledge and resources needed to use instructional technology effectively and offer a wide range of seminars including: e-learning and Blackboard, Ensemble and Anthem (streaming media and personal capture solution), scanning, PowerPoint, copyright, digital video, and emerging technologies for teaching. Staff also provides instruction and support for classroom applications such as interactive whiteboards, smart classrooms, and personal response systems (clickers).

Training and Support

The Office of Academic Technology & Digital Innovation (actech) provides consulting and instructional support to faculty and staff who are using technology in teaching and learning. The Faculty Lab in Harrison Libraries 203a is available for faculty and staff support and use and is equipped with instructional technology-related equipment including: PCs, Macs, scanners, as well as support staff. Faculty and Staff needing support with Blackboard or other instructional technologies, should contact actech.

The Online Studies team is a specialized subteam within the Office of Academic Technology & Digital Innovation. We provide expert instructional design support and oversee the course creation process for the University of Hartford’s fully online programs. As dedicated Instructional Designers, we offer targeted assistance to faculty navigating Blackboard and other academic technologies. To ensure a high-quality, consistent experience, we utilize a master course model. We manage the master courses for each program, facilitate course copies as needed, and collaborate closely with faculty to develop or redevelop both master and individual courses.
