Hartt Suzuki Student Institute
The Hartt Suzuki Student Institute will continue its legacy by offering an exciting in person program for summer 2025 on the University of Hartford's campus, West Hartford, Connecticut. The institute is designed for violin, viola, cello, guitar, piano and trumpet students who are currently studying with a Suzuki-trained teacher. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian throughout the course of the institute. (Note: Book 7 and Up exception).

Young Composers Project I & II
Session I (students grades 7-9): July 7-11
Session II (students grades 9-12): July 14-18
This intensive program is designed for students in grades 7–12 who are passionate about writing music. Students will learn composition techniques, approaches to media scoring while actively developing music for film, TV, and/or video game scenes. Students will share a sampling of their projects in a presentation for family and friends on the last day of the program.

Summer Vocal Institute (SVI)
August 4-8
The Summer Vocal Institute is a vocal performance program for high school singers ages 14-18. This week-long immersive experience provides private voice lessons, repertoire coachings, group classes, and masterclasses led by faculty members of The Hartt School and Hartt Community Division. In addition to private voice lessons and coachings, students will also take part in daily acting, movement, and career focused group seminar-style classes. This program will be ideal for student singers who want to explore the possibility of vocal performance as a college major, but is also valuable for any singers who want the experience of delving into the process of advanced vocal study.

Meet the Masters: Jazz Camp
June 23-27
Jazz instrumentalists and vocalists age 13 through adult are sure to reach the next level of their musical artistry in this celebrated program led by Javon Jackson, Professor of Jazz Studies and Director, Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, The Hartt School. This intensive five-day program provides you with the opportunity to develop your improvisation skills while delving into the historical narrative of our distinctly American art form. Daily workshops include ear training, jazz theory, improvisational development, and small-group work with our renowned jazz artists.

Chamber Music SummerFest
July 7-11
A new half-day program for instrumentalists of all levels (strings/winds/brass/piano) in grades 5-9 (morning) and 10-12 (afternoon) seeking to grow in artistry and musicianship through immersion in the world of chamber music. Students will use teamwork and leadership skills to make music together as they work with our resident chamber group, the Azul Quartet, and other artist-faculty members, in coachings, rehearsals, and masterclasses. The program culminates in an all-level evening performance including the Azul Quartet, and will take place at the Handel Performing Arts Center, University of Hartford, located at 35 Westbourne Pky, Hartford, CT.

Flute Intensive
July 7-11
July 14-18
A new half-day program where flutists in grades 5-9* (July 7-11) and grades 10-12 (July 14-18) will enjoy a week of flute-specific chamber music, flute choir, masterclasses, workshops, and more! This is a fantastic opportunity to sharpen both practice and performance skills, and to gain insight from HCD instructors Allison Hughes and Gonzalo Cortes. The program culminates in an all-level evening performance.
*Students in grades 5-9 may opt to add afternoons at UHart’s The Summer Place at an additional fee. Information in registration link.
