The University is operating on a regular schedule this morning but will close today at 1 p.m. Classes starting at or after 12:30 p.m. will not meet in person. Classes already in session will dismiss at 1 p.m. Online and remote courses are not affected by campus closings and will meet as scheduled. Please note that when a campus closing prevents an in-person class from meeting at its scheduled time, professors may opt to conduct classes or provide assignments online. Teacher of the Year and ENHP Alumnus to Speak on Motivation and Morale Nov. 12

David Bosso

David Bosso, EdD, M’04, will speak on “Motivation, Morale, and Professional Identity: Leadership Lessons from a Veteran Connecticut Teacher” on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 4:00 pm. Bosso is the 2012 Connecticut Teacher of the Year and is a 2019 inductee to the National Teachers Hall of Fame.

Bosso earned his master’s degree in education at the University’s College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP). His talk is part of the ENHP Dean’s Lecture Series and will be held in the Shaw Center, Hillyer Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Bosso is a social studies teacher at Berlin High School. In addition to his Connecticut Teacher of the Year and National Teachers Hall of Fame honors, he is also the 2012 National Secondary Social Studies Teacher of the Year.  Over the course of his teaching career, he has traveled to Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe as part of educational delegations for global understanding. His areas of expertise include teacher motivation and morale, educational history and policy, global education, and teacher leadership.

He currently serves as president of the Connecticut Teacher of the Year Council, chair of the ENHP Board of Visitors, and immediate past president of the Connecticut Council for Social Studies.
