A radiologic technology major, Zofia Jankowksi ’25 leaves UHart with a clear image of her career path.
When most people hear the term PET scans, they think of upcoming medical procedures for themselves or loved ones. For Zofia Jankowski ‘25, however, it brings to mind her chosen career.
Nuclear imaging, which includes PET scanning, is a field Jankowski has long been interested in, and she looks forward to advancing the effectiveness, ease, and reliability of the technology. “Yes, I have that hope and expectation for PET and CT imaging,” explains the 2025 summa cum laude graduate of the University of Hartford’s College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions. Although the technology is already impressive, “I can’t wait to see even more improvements in the future,” she adds.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic technology and an associate degree in health sciences from UHart, Jankowski is now continuing her training at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Worcester, Massachusetts. Not one to waste a moment, she works at Harrington Hospital (part of UMass Memorial Health) as an x-ray technician while studying.
“The radiographic bachelor’s program at UHart is special because all the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, always there to guide us and cheer us on,” Jankowski says. “They were my favorite part of being a UHart student. I’m grateful for my time there.
While at UHart, she gained hands-on experience by observing and assisting experienced radiologists at several hospitals and outpatient centers. This diligence and enthusiasm have been her hallmark for many years.
“I chose radiology because I was impressed by how a close family friend started as a technologist and progressed to head of radiology at a large corporation,” Jankowski explains. “But beyond that, I’ve always advocated for patient care, which is a major part of radiology.”
With her focus and commitment, it’s clear that health care centers and patients will soon benefit from the skill and compassionate care Jankowski provides.
