For Alexis Annan M'26, pursuing an MA in Integrated Communication at the University of Hartford was a natural fit. With a passion for event planning, communications, and public relations, she found a program that perfectly aligned with her interests and career aspirations.

“UHart had exactly what I was looking for,” Alexis says. “I have a love for event planning, communications, and PR, so this program was perfect.”

Throughout her graduate experience in the College of Arts and Sciences, Alexis gained valuable professional experience that helped shape her future career. Serving as a Regional Admissions Counselor (RAC) at UHart provided hands-on opportunities to connect with and support students while developing critical communication and leadership skills.

“Being a Regional Admissions Counselor really positioned me to be in a place where I can support students,” she explains. “That experience contributed tremendously to my professional growth and prepared me for my future in higher education.”

Before graduation, Alexis had already achieved a significant career milestone by securing employment. Today, she works at Sacred Heart University, where she continues to apply the skills and knowledge she gained at UHart. Looking ahead, Alexis plans to continue building her career in higher education, where she can make a meaningful impact on students' lives.

In addition to her professional experiences, Alexis participated in communication research projects through various courses, expanding her understanding of the field and strengthening her analytical skills.

She credits School of Communication faculty, including Professor Susan Grantham and Associate Professor Kristin Comeforo, and Admission Assistant Director Nathan Burrage, with helping her succeed. Their guidance and support, along with the mentorship of other professors, played an important role in her academic and professional journey.

“The professors were my favorite thing about UHart,” she says.

Her advice for incoming students is simple but heartfelt: “Enjoy every moment—it goes by fast.”
