Downtown Hartford's XL Center to Host May Commencement Ceremony
The University of Hartford is pleased to announce that downtown Hartford’s XL Center will host its Commencement exercises this May. One single ceremony for undergraduate and graduate degree recipients, expected to last approximately three hours, will be held on Friday, May 15, beginning at 4 p.m.
While this move is necessitated by planned building construction on the campus green—the traditional site for our May Commencement exercises—there are numerous benefits for graduates and their families.
The amenities offered by the XL Center will greatly enhance many areas of our Commencement experience. This change will allow for unlimited seating for families and guests, convenient parking, plentiful accessible seating for guests with mobility limitations, a greater number and variety of food concessions, and convenient restroom facilities.
Having one ceremony will also allow students to celebrate their friends’ accomplishments, as graduates from all of the University’s schools and colleges will have their names called individually and cross the Commencement stage. We will even utilize the Jumbotron to highlight each graduate for friends and family!
A hooding ceremony for doctoral candidates and events to celebrate school and college awards will take place during the week leading up to Commencement with specific dates to be announced.
Residence halls for graduating students will close at noon on Saturday, May 16.
