Fall Commencement Ceremonies to Take Place on Sunday, Dec. 8

UHart’s Fall Commencement Ceremonies take place Sunday, Dec. 8, in Lincoln Theater. Approximately 150 graduate students and 100 undergraduate students will receive their degrees at separate ceremonies. The graduate ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. and the undergraduate ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m.

Alumnus Mark Boxer ’83 will address the graduate students. He is Executive Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer at Cigna. He is responsible for driving Cigna’s worldwide technology strategy and overseeing the health company's technology operations, digital capabilities, analytics, and ventures. Boxer earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of Hartford, and in 2013, was awarded the UHart Alumni Association's highest honor for distinguished alumni, an Anchor Award.

Alumna Christiana Lang ’12 will address undergraduate students. She is an activist who has worked in six countries since graduation in a range of areas at the grassroots, local, state, federal, and international levels.. While an undergraduate, she was captain of the women’s soccer team and a double major in politics & government and sociology. She was awarded an Anchor Award in 2019.

President Gregory Woodward, Provost Fred Sweitzer, Board of Regents Chair David Gordon ’75, University Deans, faculty, and students also will participate in the celebratory events.
