Contemporary Native American pow wows have origins in the midwest, but have now spread across Turtle Island with many tribes adopting it as a celebratory and social event.  Modern day pow wows are bright and colorful, full of energy and always rooted deep within traditions.

Come to Gengras Student Union on Thursday, January 30, 5:30-6:30 p.m. for an educational performance of Native song and dance. University Interdisciplinary Studies instructor Chris Newell of Akomawt Educational Initiative will explain the history of modern day pow wows with song and dance exhibitions by some of the area's best dancers.
