The Ma'at Quartet

The Ma’at Quartet is an ensemble of graduate saxophone students studying at the Hartt School in the studio of Carrie Koffman. In Fall 2019, the ensemble made its concerto debut with the Hartt Wind Ensemble, performing Michael Colgrass’ Urban Requiem. Ma’at is committed to performing and commissioning contemporary works for saxophone quartet. In March, the quartet will travel to Arizona for the NASA Biennial Conference, where they will compete in the quartet competition and give a recital of new and recent works by Becky Turro and Stacy Garrop. Ma’at Quartet is also active in the Hartford community, recently bringing music to venues such as retirement homes and homeless shelters. Carrie Koffman is the quartet’s chamber coach.
